Park
 The
Park in Cheongdam Dong is inarguably the sexiest restaurant
in Seoul. With its antique accents, sheer silk drapes, fur-lined
banquettes, and dramatic flower arrangements you feel transported
back in time to a more romantic era. Colonial Asia perhaps?
Candelight from an enormous wrought iron candelabra lights the
entire back section and enormous palm trees give the terrace
a jungle feel.
When you meet the owner of the restaurant, fashion designer
Park Jiwon, you understand why the atmosphere is so sensual
and dreamy. 'I designed the restaurant myself. I just put in
all the things I love' Ms. Park also says she believes a restaurant
is like a theatrical stage. People come to the restaurant, dress
up for each other, entertain each other and share good food
together. The social aspect of dining is apparent at her restaurant
as you see many famous celebrities and powerful figures dining
often at The Park. There are also beautiful individual rooms
for a more private dining.
The food is Asian fusion. A lot of the dishes are specifically
south-east Asian influenced. For starters, the oysters are a
big favorite and the eggplant stuffed with beef is also delectable.
Popular mains include the gorgeous beef of chicken curry and
the pork with brown sauce and pumpkin. The Beggars chicken which
comes out wrapped in a Lotus leaf is as tasty as it is dramatically
packaged. The fried rice with shrimps is good and the noodle
soups are also heartwarming and satisfying.
There are beautiful private rooms available for 8-12 people.
The Park is just past the Galleria dept store in a small alley
parallel to the luxury goods street. It's behind the Prada boutique.
