Andong
Jim Tak
This chain restaurant specializes in 'Jim
Tak' which is a yummy spicy chicken stew marinated in sweet soy sauce,
garlic, chili and topped with sesame seeds. You can get it boneless or with bones. One chicken feeds about three people. Mixed in with the chicken are carrots, potatoes and glass noodles. The whole thing is served on one big platter and the
portion is enormous. It's great thing to eat for lunch if
you find yourself in Myong Dong (and it's much better for you than a greasy burger from McDonalds). Be careful however as this
concoction has loads of chopped up chillies. It can sometimes
set your mouth aflame! You can ask for less spicy if you can't
handle it. (Tol Mep Gae Chuseyo- less spicy please) The dish comes with kimchee and cold radish soup to refresh the palette. Do not mistakenly dip your hands in the radish soup to clean your fingers!!
This restaurant has several branches around town. There's one in Hongdae in the alley across the way from from Route 66 bar. The branch pictured here is located in the third main alley of Myong Dong next to Daihan Music shop. If you walk in the Avatar building entrance of Myong Dong, across the street from Lotte Young Plaza, walk down till you reach the third alley and make a right. There's a dark brown sign with Chinese characters.
